Turntable Controller

The turntable control panel controls your turntable and fires your camera.

Initial Setup

  1. Connect your turntable via the provided USB cable to your computer running the turntable control panel software
  2. Connect your camera to the turntable, using the provided 2.5mm (audio) cable
  3. Connect the turntable to the power
  4. Test the setup by clicking the "SNAP" button (located inside the circle)

To confirm the setup is complete and successful, make sure that the first two icons in the footer (USB icon and Power icon) are active and the last icon (Warnings) is not active.

Getting Started

The user interface is split into to columns.

On the left, you can select the operating mode and change settings.

On the right, the current position/status is displayed and you can control the turntable using control buttons.

Status (right column)

A position circle shows the number of shots per rotation and the current position when rotating.

A position input field displays the current position in degrees. This field also lets you input a custom value to rotate to.

A slider allows you to rotate the turntable to either direction at different speeds, depending on the distance the slider is moved.

Play buttons (left and right) rotate the turntable continuously into the given direction.

The pause button stops the rotation at any time.

SNAP will take a single picture at the current position.

START will start the rotation as configured in the left column.

HOME will bring the turntable to its home position at 0 degrees.

Settings (left column)

First, select your preferred mode, Interval, Continuous, or Stills. For details on the different mode, please see the Modes chapter.

Depending on the selected mode, the setting underneath will slightly change.

To start the rotation and trigger the camera shutter, press the START button in the right column.

Modes

Your turntable can operate in 3 modes. Interval, Continuous, and Stills. You can change the mode by clicking on the corresponding MODE tab.

Interval Mode

Interval mode separates the firing of the camera from the rotation of the turntable. First, the camera takes a picture, and only then the turntable rotates to the next angle.

In interval mode, the following settings can be adjusted:

  • Shots: the number of shots per rotation
  • Rotation: the direction of the rotation (CW = clockwise, CCW = Counter clockwise)
  • Speed: the maximum speed of the rotation, use a value lower than 100% percent if the object on your turntable is likely to wobble or fall
  • Acceleration: the acceleration of the turntable until reaching the max speed, use a value lower than 100% percent if the object on your turntable is likely to wobble or fall
  • Settle time: the time between the turntable movement stops and the camera is fired
  • Shutter speed: the time to wait for the shutter to fully open and close, until the rotation can be continued
  • Shutter lag time: the time it takes for the shutter to release when triggered, when set to a value higher than 0 the shutter will be fired the given seconds before the turntable stops moving

Continuous Mode

Continuous mode combines the firing of the camera and the rotation of the turntable. The camera takes a picture while the turntable rotates continuously.

In continuous mode, the following settings can be adjusted:

  • Shots: the number of shots per rotation
  • Rotation: the direction of the rotation (CW = clockwise, CCW = Counter clockwise)
  • Speed: the maximum speed of the rotation, use a value lower than 100% percent if the object on your turntable is likely to wobble or fall
  • Acceleration: the acceleration of the turntable until reaching the max speed, use a value lower than 100% percent if the object on your turntable is likely to wobble or fall
  • Shutter lag time: the time it takes for the shutter to release when triggered, when set to a value higher than 0 the shutter will be fired the given seconds before the turntable reaches the next rotation point

Stills Mode

Stills mode lets you setup pre defined angles at which to shoot pictures. The turntable rotates to each angles, stops, and takes a picture.

In stills mode, the following settings can be adjusted:

  • Stills: using the plus and minus buttons, you can add individual angles at which the rotation stops and the shutter is released

Presets

By default, your selected settings are stored under the "Default" preset. If you regularly work with alternating or different setups, presets will help you store those.

To create a new preset, click the "+" button next to the "Default" preset dropdown, located in the top left corner.

From here on, you can change the preset by clicking on the selected preset.

Any changes to the settings will be applied to the currently selected preset.
